I keep seeing conflicting information on this. When wiring directly to a transformer (no existing chime) do i need to add a resistor?

The manual states Yes:

“If wiring directly to a doorbell transformer, connect a 25 ohm, 50W wirewound resistor in series with one of the doorbell wires to protect your Video Doorbell.”

The product how to page states No:

Ive skimmed through many community pages with conflicting info as well. Here are a couple:

Hi @user72785. The manual (US) for the Doorbell 2nd Generation is correct. You do need a resistor when hardwiring it directly to a transformer. The Help Center pages that you are referring to are for the UK.
