Multiple Notifications for the Same Event

I continually receive multiple notifications for the same event. For example, my wife just left for work and I received 6 consecutive notifications. However, when I look at the app, it only shows one event. I have the app set so that "Motion Verification" is on, the "People Only Mode" is on, the "Motion Frequency" is set to Light, and my "Motion Zones" are set to only about 10 to 15 ft. It does this on both iOS and Windows 10 Pro, as I use both to monitor my Ring device. How can I stop these multiple notifications from happening?

Hey @clwebster1. The next time this happens, do you mind taking a screenshot of what these multiple notifications look like in your notifications and activity menu on your device? I would love to see what you're seeing to see how these multiple notifications show up. Please note that if you have the app on multiple devices, they will all be pinged at the same time when there is a motion event if you have motion alerts on. You can turn off motion alerts for the devices you do not need the additional notification on, but you should only be getting one notification per device for one single motion event. Let me know! :)

Here is a screenshot from events earlier today. Not quite as many as this morning, but still annoying.

@clwebster1 Thanks for getting back to me on this! I know your post mentioned that you had this on iOS and Windows, so I assume this is on your Windows phone, correct? If so, could you let me know if you have the most up to date Ring app? In the event you have the most up to date Ring app as there is no update available from the Play Store and same with the Apple App Store, please try the following with your device that this is happening on (if this is happening on multiple devices, please do this with all your Ring devices): - Power cycle your device. For any battery operated devices with a removable battery, this will be by taking the battery out and putting it back in. For any device with a non-removable battery, please press and hold the setup button for 20 seconds. For hardwired devices like the Pro, Floodlight Cam, Spotlight Cam Wired, etc, please do the same with pressing and holding the setup button for 20 seconds. - After this power cycle is done, go into the Ring app \> Main Menu \> Set Up a Device and set up your device again. Ensure you do this from the owner's account, as only the owner can re-setup the device to re-establish a connection. Please monitor the device from here and let me know if you continue to get this issue! If this persists, please share a screen recording or screenshot of the multiple notifications for one event. I would prefer to have one for your iOS device and your Windows device as well! When attaching this video, you will need to compress the MP4 file into a ZIP file, as ZIP files can be attached to your reply and not MP4s. In addition, you can upload this video elsewhere, such as Youtube, and then share the link to the video in your reply. Alternatively, if the video is saved in the Event History in your Ring App, you can choose to share it via email and copy the link that is generated.

I have the same problem. There are 2 iOS devices connected to the push notification and some Alexa devices that we recently added. ALL the devices get multiple push notifications leading me to believe this has nothing to do with our devices and that the multiple push notifications are from the ring server side. This all started after my wife and I changed to new phones. It’s really, really annoying. Can we escalate this issue to a senior engineer ?

I am also having this problem. Devices receiving the alerts are a Galaxy S20 and a Galaxy S8. Receiving motion alerts from the Ring floodlight, and sometimes from the standard ring doorbell (running on wired power). Any motion event will trigger 3 or 4 notifications in a row.

And another person having the same issue. Multiple alerts for a single event on multiple devices. It is so annoying I have turned notifications off on all devices except one but this is seriously impacting the utility of the device.

Same issue here. Incredibly annoying since my phone gets about 5 notifications in a row then all of my Alexa devices will announce it at the same time even though there's only one event for it in my history. Also, it seems that my doorbells are ignoring their mode settings. I have it set to not give notifications if the system is disarmed, but I am still getting (the 5 duplicate) notifications.

Hi I am also having exactly the same problem. I have hard reset the doorbell and reinstalled the App. Still getting 3 notifications for one event in immediate succession. Has anyone got this solved. iPhone 11 on latest software.

No solution from Ring. Probably better off dumping their product for another competitor

Yeah I got the same problem so I’m on the same bandwagon as you guys. As you say I see no comments from Ring that they’re working on it or found something or anything. Looks like they just really don’t care about this. It’s a real shame systems pretty good but looks like software’s went to the dogs. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

As I just said in the prior post I have the same problem. I’m only repeating it here because I forgot to check mark the email me button so I can find out when replies come. So the main comment is the one that’s prior.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with the Community, neighbors! If removing and reinstalling the Ring app does not resolve this concern, please respond with a screen recording or screen shot of multiple notifications for one event. I'll be sure to pass this and any further feedback related to this concern to our teams here for further investigation. :)

Same issue. Two notifications for every single event. Is no one really able to fix this considering it’s happening so often for so many users?

Agree with everyone on here. THIS IS NOT RESOLVED! It is not the app on my phone and also on Alexa and also on my iOS. It is a problem with the RING software. Open this back up, it is not resolved by doing the steps suggested by any Ring CSR's in this thread!

I too am having this problem. Have a doorbell and outdoor popup camera. Doorbell only sends one notification per motion, popup camera on the driveway will send 2-6 notifications per motion event. This started happening after i pulled the battery to charge it.

I recently setup my ring at a new location, and now when it triggers, either by ring or motion, I get 8-10 iPhone notifications in a row. I don’t want to turn off cuz I want to know, but don’t need duplicate notifications. It’s not motion settings cuz it does it upon Ring of doorbell too.

I had that happen to me last week. I was getting motion alerts like every minute and the videos showed nothing. I resolved it without uninstalling the app and without touching the doorbell's orange button. I was trying to install a range extender between my router and the doorbell. I stopped that exercise, put the range extender back in the box, rebooted the router and tablet and everything returned to normal. Sometimes it seems like I need a minute or two for everything to quiet down for the RSSI values to return to normal. If I were you, I would walk the doorbell back to its original location (without screwing it down) and see if everything worked correctly. If so - then I would stop and think about what sort of stuff could be interferring.
