Ring App
Multiple Notifications for the Same Event
I continually receive multiple notifications for the same event. For example, my wife just left for work and I received 6 consecutive notifications. However, when I look at the app, it only shows one event. I have the app set so that "Motion Verification" is on, the "People Only Mode" is on, the "Motion Frequency" is set to Light, and my "Motion Zones" are set to only about 10 to 15 ft. It does this on both iOS and Windows 10 Pro, as I use both to monitor my Ring device. How can I stop these multiple notifications from happening?

Hi I am also having exactly the same problem. I have hard reset the doorbell and reinstalled the App. Still getting 3 notifications for one event in immediate succession. Has anyone got this solved. iPhone 11 on latest software.

KNo solution from Ring. Probably better off dumping their product for another competitor

MIt's hard to get screen shots of this because they would appear as a single event. We can try to get video..but that gets more complicated. For now, just know that you have multiple users getting these notifications multiple times - almost every time. For me, it is typically 3-6. How it looks: I get a notification - typically on my watch. It pops up. Then goes away before I can take any action. The pop-up/go-away happen typically 3-6 times before it appears as a single notification and allows me to take an action (view, dismiss, etc). Please let me know if I can clarify anything.

KSo, I tried to take a video of the multiple notifications and as usual I cannot recreate the issue and only get a single notification. However, I need to note that before doing that test I reset my motion zone (only use one). I deleted the original and then recreated another one for the entire screen. The previous one was ignoring the street. Maybe that had something to do with it. I'll keep trying to see if I can recreate it.

MWell, I got the video you wanted. I'll try to post the video separately so that it stays...but this should be good for the rest of 2020. Reproduction Steps: 1. Left my phone inside with the screen locked 2. Trigger the motion sense on my ring stick-up cam wired (new version just bought, did the same on my old battery-powered one) 3. Once I felt the haptics on my watch, I started recording video on a different phone of the watch 4. Stopped recording with the last popup. Just after this, the screen went black. Same issue. Two notifications for every single event. Is no one really able to fix this considering it’s happening so often for so many users?

Agree with everyone on here. THIS IS NOT RESOLVED! It is not the app on my phone and also on Alexa and also on my iOS. It is a problem with the RING software. Open this back up, it is not resolved by doing the steps suggested by any Ring CSR's in this thread!

I recently setup my ring at a new location, and now when it triggers, either by ring or motion, I get 8-10 iPhone notifications in a row. I don’t want to turn off cuz I want to know, but don’t need duplicate notifications. It’s not motion settings cuz it does it upon Ring of doorbell too.

I was going to add my name to the list of people with this issue, and I was going to try to do a screen recording on my phone while triggering the motion detector, but in the process I was reminded that the Ring app crashes on me 75% of the time, I can't currently recreate this problem on my back door because that Ring's battery has completely drained and the drive portion of the security screw is stripped such that we can't remove it to charge, so I went to record this issue happening on my front door, but the ONE time I was recording, it didn't do it (even though every OTHER time I get three duplicate notifications for every event) I give TF up. We're buying new hardware from a different company and canceling Ring. I'm sorry but y'all been on a decline for a while and seeing all these people with the same issue going back months--I'm out.

NUnfortunately, I think I'm doing the same after it just cost me $30 for the year as a well. All I hear is the same excuses and getting no where. You have tried to make this piece of equipment do more than its capable of I think... In the beginning it was simple, but worked!

AAnother user here frustrated with the multiple notification alerts. I’m going to shut off rich notifications and see if that helps.

AOops forgot to hit the email me when someone responds button. Hopefully there is a fix for this soon. Seems like a nice feature to have (rich notification), if it actually functioned properly.

RTurning off the Rich Notifications is not really a solution to the problem. The Rich Notifications are actually useful and a good new feature, it is just that they are being sent multiple times for each event. I spoke to the Customer Services team and they are well aware of the issue and working to fix it.

Same issue here. Incredibly annoying since my phone gets about 5 notifications in a row then all of my Alexa devices will announce it at the same time even though there's only one event for it in my history. Also, it seems that my doorbells are ignoring their mode settings. I have it set to not give notifications if the system is disarmed, but I am still getting (the 5 duplicate) notifications.
