Will Ring release magnetic door locks?

Hi All,

I live in flats and there is a communal entrance and the door is secured with a magnetic lock.

The maglock is released by the existing intercom handset.

Ideally, I’d like to run the existing intercom system/video screen alongside Ring so that when I’m in the property, I can still use the intercom or when my phone isn’t nearby I can still use the intercom/door release.

So, my questions are:

  1. Can I run Ring AND the existing intercom system in parallel?

  2. Does Ring have the capability to release magnetic door locks?

If your magnetic lock has an output or smart bridge you can use a contact closure and add it to the ring system. But, if you have Ring you don’t need the intercom…as you have two way talk between all of the devices. OR just get a Level smart lock instead of the magnetic release. They sell on the ring site and it can be added to the app. Then all you need is one app. You can visually see them on the app with the camera and unlock or lock accordingly with the ring app.
