My car got broken into early Boxing Day at 3am. I scrolled and found someone rummaging in my car but lots more was done. Why don’t the ring capture everything? It only shows 8secs of what happened? Do I have to change my settings to record motions for longer?

You can adjust the Video Recording Length to set up to how long your Doorbell or Security Camera will record when motion is detected. You can find steps on how to do that in this Help Center article. You may also want to adjust your motion settings, including the Motion Zones, to make sure everything is set to your preferences. I hope this helps.
