When does the Ring doorbell start recording?

Question: when does the Ring doorbell camera start recording? When there is motion on the street it records that. The street is a good 20 feet or more away from the front door. But it doesn’t start to record a person until they are AT the front door. Why does it start recording then and not at the street??

I’d estimate it takes about 5 - 10 seconds for the camera to “wake up” after it first detects motion.

Hi @jerryz55. You may also try adjusting some of the Motion Settings on your Doorbell, or even the placement or angle it is positioned at. Check out our Guide to Optimizing your Doorbell’s Motion Detection for some helpful tips and tricks, including information on the placement of your Doorbell, as that can also affect the Motion Detection.
