Warning about Ring Protect Plans

Warning about upgrading to Ring Protect Plan.I wanted to post a warning and a disappointment. I have a Ring Series 2. The product is fine and working. However when the initial trial protect plan expired I was away from home. I signed up for the one year protect plan. Immediately the device stopped working. I called support and the only thing they said was to go to the device and reset it. I am not there and won't be for a while. No where in the sign-up did it say that you need to be at home on sign-up to reset the device. So now I am completely off-line. What is even worse is that every ten minutes I am receiving a notice of movement as the system seems to be repeating the last notice from 2 days ago over and over. I have now have to shut the notifications down so I have a completely useless product product and have paid for a protect plan that I can not use. Really not a good feature. A warning needs to be posted immediately so that others do not have the same product.

Add me to the list. Trial ended and suddenly I receive alerts for cars driving by despite having motion zones set up at the front porch. Live view is spotty, seems to work better when I am close to the doorbell. Internet works great. Never had a single issue during the first 30 days. I'm sure a refund is out of the question at this point. I had a feeling this would happen, I will not be paying for a subscription now just because of this, don't care if it's 25 cents a month.

So main issues when the trail ends. First is that the Advanced Motion Detection setting of People only Mode is not available when you are not on subscription. So now everything is setting off an alert. Every car or any motion. So no way to filter it down. So lots of alerts. Then if you have shared the ring with others like your spouse then they loose permissions and feature controls. you have to reset their permissions to have their ring app even work. Then the ring will not create any saved file video clip. So no history at all of what happened that caused the Alert. You can see the live stream but you would have to watch it all the time. Since none of this is documented for potential Ring purchaser I would send my Ring back asking for a full refund. If no refund is offered I would contact a lawyer for formation of a class action law suit. So Marley_Ring what is Ring prepared to do for people that do not want to purchase the subscription?

Same issue, so everything was fine until my subscription ended. In the rapid ring app it would flash back between activating and starting sessions. FYI this was a replacement less than a month old Ring 3 camera. So they will be sending me another one yet again and as a courtesy gave me a 6 month subscription today. Guess what, after the subscription kicked on the camera is working again with nothing different. So I STRONGLY believe that this is related to the subscription despite the useless customer support that seems to be copying/pasting a generic response in this post. I would suggest everyone call to ask for a replacement, once received, sell the brand new one and switch to a different brand.

It is not only with the trial it's as soon as the product plan expires. This happened last year as well once I did not renew my plan. I constantly received motion alerts and it no longer worked properly. Once I renewed it it worked perfectly. My plan expired 2 days ago and I no longer can view Live and I have motion alerts about every 15 mins all day long. I am with anyone who would like to put a formal complaint to the BBB or who ever else. I'm sure there are many of us that have the dated email stating my plan ended as well as all the many motion alerts I receive now on a daily. I believe I became more angry over the situation reading the bs responses from the company.

Yeah this is insane. I’m glad I found this thread though, bc I thought I was going crazy. To be fair, “Marley” is probably a bot programmed to just say “check your WiFi, beep boop blorp!”It’s DEFINITELY correlated to the trial running out, and reading all of these posts, I’m sure of it. I’m also willing to file a BBB report.

My live view worked fine after install, right up to the time the free trial ended. I didn't purchase the plan. Now when I get a motion notification I can't connect to live view for about 15 minutes or more. My network is fine, all my other devices, including cameras connect just fine. It is not a network issue, so please don't say that. I get the little picture that is useless because it's too small to see and if I click on it to make it larger it disappears and tries to connect to live view. Anyone else out there having this issue?

What makes me angry is that when I bought ring, I could access all recorded motion detection events WITHOUT CHARGE!!! I will never use another Ring product
