Volume Issues Indoor Camera

I am looking for help with a recent issue that has come up.

We have two indoor camera inside our house. The cameras are not set to record motion while we are at home. It is live access only.

We also have a kid in college who also has the Ring app (so they can come home/disarm the system, all that jazz) and he sometimes likes to check in with us by accessing the camera and just talking with us. Think doorbell camera conversation, except it happens with an indoor camera.

Everything worked fine for months (maybe even a year), but suddenly, he can access the camera, but there is no longer any volume. He can speak into his phone, but we can’t hear him on our end. The blue light is on (he is there), but he can’t speak to us. As far as we know, nothing was changed on our end. It just stopped working on BOTH of our indoor cameras at the same time. That makes me think it is not a hardware issue.

When he goes back and looks at the recording of his live access, he CAN hear himself. It is recording it, but we can’t hear him live.

Other things we’ve tried - (1) having him turn up the volume on his phone while he is in the app, (2) factory reset of one of the cameras to make sure it wasn’t the device or the wifi hook-up (we had to reconnect the wifi). (3) Oh, and this has been ongoing for weeks now and all other devices using the wifi work just fine.

It almost feels like there was a software update of some sort at that time and it messed things up.

Hi @pmcg. Sometimes audio issues can be corrected by making some adjustments to your router. It’s possible that there was an update to your network and this is why you can’t hear anything from the Indoor Camera. This Help Center article here will have information on how to do this.

If that doesn’t work, you can try resetting the Indoor Cam by pressing an holding the setup button for 20 seconds, then releasing.
