Ring Video Doorbell
Very Poor Pre roll quality and missing recording in Motion zones
Hi, I've just installed a Doorbell 4 and not impressed so far(first time user). First issue is the pre roll quality is terrible , I mean very poor an unusable. I've looked into this and seen many others report the same. What can be done to resolve this and get better quality? Also, I have rebooted it an removed the device prior to this and no difference. Secondly, It doesn't not record anything when an activity is triggered in the motion zones set unless they're literally near up the camera. I've turned up motion sensitivity near max. Please help

Hi Tom, That's quite disappointing, however, what about the fuzzy lines that appear during the pre roll phase, the pre roll not only is lower quality but the image distortion is also very apparent and a concern. Are you saying this is normal? Also, is there someone I can speak with regarding this concern in my original post: "Secondly, It doesn’t not record anything when an activity is triggered in the motion zones set unless they’re literally near up the camera. I’ve turned up motion sensitivity near max" Can you point me where to raise a support case for help? Thanks

THi @user55691. I can't see any fuzzy lines in the screenshot you provided, so perhaps they are related to your RSSI. RSSI can be improved by moving your WiFi access point closer to the device. Hi @user55691. This is typical behavior of the Pre-Roll. Pre-Roll is a low-powered camera designed to give you a picture of what preceded the motion event. You can learn more about Pre-Roll [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038650731-Understanding-the-Pre-Roll-Feature).
