Upgraded from Doorbell Pro to Pro 2. App is telling me Transformer Voltage is Poor

Hi All

My first post here, so I do apologize if this has been asked already (which I am sure it has), but I am hoping someone could answer this question for me…

Tonight (4/13/22) I upgraded my original Video Doorbell Pro to the Pro 2 doorbell. I replaced the Power kit that was attached to my mechanical doorbell chime with the newer pro power kit and then once I had the doorbell connected I turned on the breaker controlling it and completed setup. When I looked at the Transformer Voltage under Device Health it said that it was Poor and that I may need to upgrade my transformer. This kinda threw me because the doorbell transformer I have in my home has been in use for over 25 years and its currently listed as 16V-30VA transformer. The original Pro doorbell worked perfectly with it and always showed a good rating under the transformer power in device health. So far the only feature I can not use because of this transformer issue is the package delivery alerts, which to be honest I am not sure I would even use, but ultimately I want to make sure that my pro 2 runs smoothly and does not lose power because of this transformer. While doing some research I read some forum posts where people said they upgraded their transformer to a 24V-40VA transformer and that seemed to have fixed their issues. I looked up some of those transformers and found this one:

Has anyone updated their doorbell transformer to a 24V-40VA model and if so, did it fix the poor rating that the doorbell was showing under Transformer power under Device Health in the app?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated…

Thanks

Hi @parisi2274. I would first start by performing a reboot of the Ring Pro 2. You can do this by pressing and holding the setup button for 20 seconds, then releasing. Next, check the settings in the Ring app to ensure that you have Mechanical Chime Kit selected (Device Settings > General Settings). If these suggestions don’t correct the power status in the Ring app, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here. I too upgraded from the Doorbell Pro to Pro2 and have the same issue with one caveat. All works well with my doorbell! After installing the Pro2 I noticed the device health was showing poor for the Transformer Voltage which I find odd because the old one which was about three years old was the same VA rating. Nonetheless, I purchased the branded model from the Ring site specified for the Ring Pro2 doorbell. I have rebooted my camera and ensured the Pro Power Kit was installed properly. I am pleased with the performance of the doorbell and it is a justified upgrade IMO. I am unaware if there are any long term ill effects that will surface in the future due to the voltage reading in the app.

@Tom_Ring I too have this problem. I bought the transformer from RING that they recommended and installed it…Voltage is still low (15 v), however, my mechanical doorbell chime is now working, so that’s an Improvement I guess. My health check shows the same as @woodeezy . Can anyone advise?

Edit to Add: There is no night vision unless I have my porch lights on, which is frowned upon in my neighborhood… I have a Ring Pro 2
