Spotlight cam not recognizing batteries

My spotlight camera isn’t recognizing that there are batteries inside. My husband replaced both batteries a day ago and the camera still isn’t working. We’ve tried all troubleshooting with reconnecting WiFi and it does nothing. It still shows as having two dead batteries even though there are two fully-charged batteries inside the unit.
