Setting up Ring with new phone

I have always owned my ring doorbell. When i tried to set it up with a new phone, I got message that it’s owned by someone else. I tried to follow steps to remove it, but it says I have no devices. I’m so frustrated. I did change emails, could that be the problem? I can’t log in with the old email.
