Same issue here, it would be nice to use the hot tub without the dang ring light turning on all the time. I bypassed a switch to install, so time to put that back in place as Ring seems to think their software should control the settings instead of the users. Sky net is coming!
Having the same issue with brand new light out of the box.
Same issue. Installed floodlight camera and both flood lights are on constantly. Can not even shut them off with the Ring App. if the power is on to the box the lights are always on - so annoying.
Check out these Help Center articles for tips on controlling the lights.
Keep in mind, even with light zones off, the lights are intended to come on when Camera motion is detected. The duration that the lights stay on after a motion is detected, can be altered in your light settings as well.
Please also ensure wifi connection and power is sufficient per the Device Health section of your Ring app.

You didn’t receive any thumbs up because your answer was useless. Obviously it isn’t working properly, and the lights are hard wired so that should have nothing to do with WiFi, which is also working fine. Sorry. I have two of these and I am seriously disappointed with the way the lights work on both. It is a problem and it needs fixed. It most likely has something to do with a glitch in your LCD circuit board. I won’t be buying another. That I do know.
Just looked out the window - everyone on my road has a RING floodlight camera and EVERYONES lights are on!!!
Ring wtf is going on?!
SAME ISSUE!!! Has anyone actually fixed it without returning the camera and even then does it still happen? It seems a software issue and a hardware issue so replacing the light wouldn’t make sense to me. I have to leave the light off completely and manually flip the light on. I’ve turned it off in the app and it won’t turn off. I’ve eliminated motion sensors and everyone. Pls Help!
RING, this is the same exact issue I am having. I just purchased and installed it. The light will NOT TURN OFF! This is clearly a system issue. I have tried all of the above suggestions. None of those fix the problem. Once you turn it off, it turns back on in 2 seconds. It’s set to be on ONLY when there is motion. Please help!!
Just installed and am having same issue. Brand new out of box. Didn’t create a schedule didn’t link to anything, didn’t group - nothing to get tripped up in. Just turned all light toggles to “off” and the lights will not go off. Tried a schedule, lights will not turn off. Only way to turn off is to disable the camera and motion sensing- literally why I bought it and I can’t use the camera? Not acceptable to keep telling your customers “it’s not us, it’s you.” Clearly there is a problem with the hardware or software or both. Fix it!
I was able to get around this problem by turning motion sensitivity down and setting custom motion zones. However the light does come on continuously when it loses wifi. If the wifi connection is weak then this might be the issue.
Same exact issue. Lights just won’t turn off - every few mins they turn ON - stay ON for the configured time, go OFF and cycle repeats… Very disturbing - our backyard camera is close to our bedroom so this is disturbing sleep.
I’ve adjusted settings - other than turning off power to the camera I haven’t found a way. This is a huge flaw in the product.
I have the same issue. WiFi signal strong, motion sensitivity reduced etc. No improvement. There is a flaw here Ring. Don’t advise a call to Cust Service because the solution from Tech doesn’t work. There is an underlying issue. Acknowledge it and fix it or look forward to a mass migration to competitor products.
Extremely disappointed with this product also. Not sure what to try next apart from ask for my money back and inform others not to buy this item? I’ll try improving the WiFi signal but everything to date has failed and the lights remain on. I’ve switched them off as it’s defeating the object of having this camera. Ring you must try harder?
I am having the same issue. I have 2 cameras. One works perfectly fine. The other just started this week with the same light issue.
One of my cams decided to turn on at 4 a.m. nothing triggered it that I could see. Same scenario mentioned by others. Nothing worked to turn it off so had to leave it on all day. My other cam works fine, as does the rest of my system. I was even able to control other features on it and do live views. So strange. So tonight I did a reset on it and it has been flashing now for about 20 minutes. I just now thought to go into Device Health for that cam which said I needed to reconnect it to my WiFi. It walked me through set up again and all is well. Light is now OFF!
My ring floodlight has started to do the same, after reading what other people have said it appears that Ring are unable to rectify the issue, therefore the product is not fit for purpose so I think it’s worth informing both which magazine and reporting it to the trade descriptions as clearly Ring are selling a product under false pretences…
I have the same problem with My Ring Floodlight cam plus wired is also staying on all day. I turned off via the app and it turns back on within a minute. I have a 2nd Gen Floodlight camera and it’s working properly. I even setup a light schedule to turn on at 6:00PM off at 9:00PM and it doesn’t do anything. Ring needs to do to better QC when the push the update. I wonder if this is only affecting the Floodlight wired Plus only.
Same issue here. Even if I manually turn the light off, it will soon come back on. If there’s motion detected, after the minute of recording (my setting) it will basically flash the light off and right back on, staying on all night. Power cycled it, reset it, firmware is updated. This thing is a piece of junk.
Think I’m going to return it and switch brands based on this discussion.
