Ring Spotlight cam + solar issues

I have a ring spotlight cam battery with solar.

The solar panel was working well, keeping the cam at around 80%.

All of a sudden it’s dropped to 8% and isn’t topping it up anymore.

The solar panel does get good exposure to sun light.

Any ideas?

Are you getting a lot of notifications of motions?
I had a similar issue with a Ring device and once I tuned back some of the settings the solar charger was able to keep it charged up as it had less motions.

Going through the exact same thing!!

Hey neighbors! As mentioned in this similar post, check out our Community post about Battery draining for tips on optimizing usage and time between charges. As we near the colder months for many regions, please also consider night time temperatures and cold weather.

As for the Solar Panel, cold weather can also bring over cast and rain. Please make sure the Panel is clean from debris and is receiving several hours of sunlight per day. Checking the Solar Panel adapter connection is securely in place and clean is always a good step. Keep in mind that the above usage or drainage of your battery will also factor into the effectiveness of the Solar Panel’s charge. I hope this helps!

Didnt have this issue last winter?

We have two battery’s in it and it still completely drains.

Does get a a lot of motion (don’t have notifications on), but I’ve changed the settings to the lowest ones and still drains.

Hi @user237, happy to chime in here. After adjusting the settings to be lower, have you noticed any reduction in the amount of motion events your Spotlight Cam is picking up? Or is it still picking up roughly the same amount of events? If you have noticed a decrease in events but your Spotlight Cam’s battery is still draining quickly, it could be either the Camera itself or the battery. You can try factory resetting the Cam by holding down the setup button for at least 20 seconds. After the reset is done, set it back up in the Ring App and monitor the battery levels to see if this helps.
