On 04/13/18 I purchased a Ring Spotlight Cam Battery HD Security Camera with Built Two-Way Talk and a Siren Alarm, Black. The battery kept running down, so I bought a second battery. This too ran down quickly so on 11/11/19 I purchase the Ring Solar Panel (compatible with ring spotlight can battery). Today I got a notice that the battery door was open. So I check the spotlight and the door was not open. I checked the batteries and replace one with a fully charged backup for my doorbell. The spotlight was still telling me the door was open, so I decided to reinstall the spotlight. Now it does not work at all. I tried to do a hard start to the spot light and it would not restart. I do not want to pay another $199 for a new spotlight. This “Great Deal” has ended up costing me alot of money. spotlight $199, extra batteries $36.48 and Solar Panel $48.33.
Hey @SUSANKW. When you close the battery hatch for the Spotlight Cam, does it make a clicking sound? You will have to make sure you are closing it with enough force to get the clicking noise, indicating it’s fully closed. Once you do that, please perform a reset of the device by holding the setup button for 20 seconds. From there, try another setup and let us know how that goes!
I installed the new ring spotlight camera, 25 of January 2020 with fully charged battery, With in a month the battery is gone, but falsely advertising as it last 6 months ?. Highly disappointed of cheap marketing. Note that my setting were on standard.
The next after, I recharged the battery now getting the error battery door opened. I tried closing the battery lid with clicking sound more than 10 times and even tried resetting for 5 times. No use still showing the same error ???.??♂️??♂️??♂️??♂️??♂️
@mayuvsmayoo If you continue to close the battery hatch and it will not report that it is closed, please reach out to our support team here. They will be able to provide in-depth troubleshooting with your device, which you can also bring up this concern with your battery levels as well!
Battery door keeps saying door open when it’s not now the camera doesn’t work at all
I have the same problem with the battery door message. Also the camera wont go into live view mode.
I too am having this problem receiving the battery door is open. I’ve opened the door, cleaned all around it, closed the door and it snapped indicating it’s closed yet the message still appears and not recording. This started 7/10/2020.

I found the same problem. Upon a closer look I discovered the rubber seal around the battery door was not attached all the way around. I messed with it for quite awhile before I could carefully close it without disturbing the seal. My seal needs to be replaced. It does not stay seated properly in the small track. Can a replacement seal be purchased, with instructions for proper installation?
Hey @TTone! Good call checking for variables around the battery slot and hatch door. Unfortunately the rubber seal in question is not a part that comes with the Spotlight Camera spare parts kit. That being said, our support team should be able to assist with a solution.
