Ring Retrofit kit - Broken Zone or normal?

Hi All,

New to Ring switching from ADT and so far loving it. i am using the Retrofit kit for my existing wired doors and windows. Setup was a breeze and everything seemed to be working fine for the past 10 days until recently, i started getting false alarm on one of the wired sensors. Went through and tested every single one with a DMM for both continuity and also resistance. All the zones pass the continuity test except for Dining room ( which happens to be 6 windows tied to a single zone ). The resistance shows 185k closed and 0 open. Upon further investigation it looks like 5.2k ohm is the max ring retrofit can support for a zone, so sounds like this is why its unstable and giving false alerts. My questions are

  1. Is there a problem with the 185k ohm zone thats causing false alerts? should it be this high ? it worked without issues on the ADT system and other zones setup in a similar fashion don’t show this high resistance and give no trouble.

  2. What other options do i have to re-use this zone other than deploying wireless sensors ?

Any input is appreciated

Overthought this, turns out there was a faulty sensors on that particular zone. Once i found and replaced the faulty reed switch within the loop, i remeasured the resistance and it has now dropped to 6.6 ohms. Seems to be working flawless so far and no more false alarms
