Ring Video Doorbell
Ring Doorbell2 started showing power source as battery after 2 years
I have a Ring 2 that is just over 2 years old. The other day I received an email saying I needed to recharge the battery. 1st time that has ever happened so I looked at the device health and it showed the power source was battery and not hardwired. It's always shown hardwired. I pull the doorbell check all the connections and it's getting power and everything is connected. Was there a firmware update recently or something that killed this. I don't understand why it would do this after 2 years.

Well the Ring Video Doorbell is a junk after 2 years. I have the transformer, checked all the wiring and still didnt work I switched to the the Blink Doorbell, hooked it up (hard wired) and worked perfectly This proves Ring is basically forcing you yo upgrade if you want to keep it hard wired. It magically switch the battery powered and the option was greyout to even change it back to hardwired oh and the help says to call support but they wont help you because its out of warranty

I had the Ring doorbell 2. It worked great since I purchased it about 2 years ago. Within the last 2 or 3 months the battery went from “WIRED” to “BATTERY”. I have been on the phone with support for a combined total of 6 hours over the course of 4 straight Friday's. All to come up with nothing. They sent me doorbell 3 and same thing, it didn’t show wired still only battery. I called again then back to back weeks they sent me their plug in adapter, well would you guess it still didn’t change a thing. So they sent me another doorbell 3 and it still doesn’t show wired! You can’t speak to anyone on the phone who understands a damn thing you say at all. They also don’t want to believe that it is their product that is the issue! Idk what to do anymore. I’ve gotten 2 free batteries out of the deal so I guess I will just keep swapping them out until Ring can figure out their damn issues! Im sick and tired of getting stuck on the phone wasting the beginning of my weekends getting pissed off at support because they won’t listen! Yes, I have power from my transformer all the way to the doorbell. Ring has an issue and it’s frustrating!!!!

Often times a change in battery usage can make a charge supplied by wiring less effective. This could be due to an increase in events or even environmental factors such as [cold temperatures](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005939463-Cold-Weather-and-Battery-Powered-Ring-Doorbells). You might also find use from this checklist I put together, for optimal hardwiring. :) https://community.ring.com/t/hardwiring-checklist-battery-powered-video-doorbells/44458
