troubleshooting

We just got a RIng doorbell Gen 2 for christmas, and it is installed hardwired. Been operating great for about a week now , but just now at 2am it chimed the house doorbell twice back to back but no one was actually there. Is this a common thing ? Setting to sensitive ? Its about -13c outside right now.if that makes a difference.

Hi @user73834. I would recommend performing a factory reset on your Doorbell to see if it helps. To factory reset your Doorbell press and hold the setup button on it for 20–25 seconds, then reconnect it to your wifi. You also want to make sure there are no issues with your wiring in the chimes circuit that would cause this. If you have tried these steps and are still having the same concern, give our support team a call for further assistance.

So the wiring is pretty straight forward, 2 screws. Now i did put in the diode that was in the old doorbell button. Wasn’t sure if it needed it or what its purpose is, but it was there so its still there.
Haven’t tried resetting it yet, this has happened 3 times now in the last month.

Hi @user73834. The diode is not required and it should be removed ASAP. Having the diode installed could also be part of the issue.
