Connected a solar panel to my ring doorbell 2 and it does not work. Tried resetting, disconnecting, etc etc but just does not work. This is very representative of the quality of products that ring produces as I’m not the first to have this issue…. Any thoughts from anyone
Hi @user64571. If you have a Video Doorbell 2, you need to ensure you have purchased the correct Solar Panel. If you have a Video Doorbell 2nd Gen, you’ll need a different Solar Panel. Once you have the correct Solar Panel installed, make sure it is receiving several hours of direct sunlight per day. Indirect sunlight will not be sufficient in order to provide a trickle charge to your Doorbell.
If the correct Solar Panel is properly installed and is receiving sufficient direct sunlight, but is still not providing a trickle charge, try a quick reboot using the reboot option on the Device Health page. This reboot should take a few moments. If that still doesn’t resolve the issue, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here.
