Hey @Alyboy. Is it possible that the Live View at night is too dark and not having a lot of movement, and therefore it is hard for the Doorbell to detect motion? In addition, what kind of Doorbell is this for? Are you able to walk in front of your Doorbell at night time to see if you can set it off from motion detection?

I have the same problem. It is not the darkness, because it does pick up motion after dark. This is happening 11:30 and the wee hours of the morning. I am including a screenshot of what I get with a live view, but nothing is being recorded and I am not getting notifications. We had someone trying to open car doors and it did not pick it up. ![Ring screenshot|148x320](upload://cof8HsOJ25ghoXehaRZolQB3g75.png)

Hi @user29132. If the motion detection for your Doorbell is not working correctly during the night, try the following steps: * [Optimize your Motion Settings](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/210243483-Utilizing-Motion-Zones-with-your-Ring-Devices) for your Doorbell. One example of this would be increasing the Motion Sensitivity of your Doorbell. If your Doorbell is battery operated, you also want to look into its [Motion Frequency ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Understanding-and-Optimizing-Motion-Detection-with-Motion-Frequency)and set it to Frequent, which could drain the battery quicker but helps prevent missing motion events. * [Reboot your Doorbell using the Ring app](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/7438395032980-How-to-Reboot-your-Ring-Doorbell-or-Security-Camera-from-the-Ring-App-). * If you have [Smart Alerts](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032947972-Refining-Your-Motion-Alert-Notifications-for-People-and-Other-Motions-) enabled, disable them to see if it makes a difference, or vice versa. * Verify your Doorbell's signal strength, also known as [RSSI, is at a good level](https://community.ring.com/t/how-it-works-your-ring-device-rssi-good-vs-poor/229). You also want to test the motion detection yourself during the night to see if it picks you up, as it could be possible that the person did not walk within the range of your Doorbell's motion detection. I hope this helps.
