Ring Video Doorbell
Ring doorbell not charging (NOT SOLVED!)
I'm starting a new thread because Ring chose to mark the last in-depth discussion as Solved when this problem IS NOT SOLVED! They forced a new firmware to these devices which stop them from charging unless you live in the tropics. Spend countless hours troubleshooting, spending more money upgrading the transformer, wiring, all which did not solve the problem. Ring now states their product will not charge in the cold and they have disabled charging to the device. Guess what? That hardwire doesn't actually power the doorbell, it CHARGES THE BATTERY THAT CANT CHARGE BECAUSE THEY DISABLED IT. Get your sh\*t together Ring! We have already pinpointed it to when your firmware was released that caused the issue, and you have not once acknowledged a problem or tried to be of assistance.

My ring doorbell has always been "hardwired", but suddenly switched to "battery" about 2-3 months ago. I have charged the unit for 2 days and the app shows battery at 100%. When reconnecting, device shows battery level at 16%. I have tried charging/reinstalling the device at least a dozen times over the past few weeks. I have tried all methods of fixing the hardwire connection including replacing base plate, and all wiring (all products purchased from Ring.com) without success. Very frustrating as this unit had been hardwired for the past several years without issue. Has my device gone bad?

I’ve just noticed the same problem. My ring doorbell is hardwired and have never had any battery low percentage. I live in Monterrey, Mexico and the weather here is extremely hot (98 fahrenheit), so I don’t think the cold weather is the only issue or the issue at all.

Not sure if this is just a lucky coincidence, but we had thunderstorms pass through the area yesterday and briefly lost power twice. Now, my hardwired Video Doorbell 2 is charging the battery again, I'll watch it go down to 96% and check on it a few hours later and it's back to 99%. But maybe there was a firmware push that same day and the breaker being tripped had nothing to do with it. I've had this problem for almost two months and suddenly it's working again after I checked on the Doorbell after the power came back. Weird. Nature intervened when Ring couldn't get their act together.

Same issue as everyone else. Spoke with Ring Support and their suggestion is to lower the motion frequency to light. As per her explanation you wont receive notifications between a 2 minute time frame of an event. So I told her within 2 minutes anything can happen as I advised her a couple of months ago(same as when everyone started to experiencing the same problem)this started to happen. Prior to that I had all the new settings they pushed per updates/firmware and my frequency is always set to Standard. I asked her is this the resolution Ring is telling everyone that calls in for this problem? She said its just an advise..so I tell her if Ring is pushing all these new features and everyone is complaining its something on your end and not ours. Makes you only think maybe I should've used a real security system with its own base station to record events.

My Ring doorbell1 battery no longer will take a recharge. This happened after I ordered a Solar Charging mount for my doorbell. Can I replace the battery? If not, I want to return the solar charger as it is only used on the ols Ring1 doorbell.
