Hi - My entrance has a glazed porch area and I am looking to install the Ring doorbell next to my front door which means it will look out on the approach path through a glazed screen. (It is north facing and largely unaffected by direct sunlight.) Will this provide a satisfactory site for the video to function or will the glass cause issues? Thanks in anticipation.
Hi @Charlatan57. That is a great question. If the location you’re planning on putting your Ring Video Doorbell is behind a glass, it will adversely affect the video quality. During the day, it will affect how your Doorbell captures motion and cause a haze in the video. At night, the infrared lights will reflect off of the glass and washout the video. I would advise an alternate location, if possible. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
