Ring doorbell gen 2 battery dying even though app says 61%

I’ve had my ring doorbell gen 2 about a year now and it all of a sudden just died, no notification (which it did last time) and battery life was showing at 61% on the app. Is this a common issue? I’ve now got it on charge and the battery life is now showing at 3% since I’ve had to reconnect the doorbell to my wife.
