Ring doorbell 2 not ringing indoor mech chime

Hi I’ve installed my ring doorbell 2 by wiring to the two wires coming from my indoor Deta chime. But when the button is pressed the chime does not sound. Is this because this is mains powered at 230V and needs to be 8-24V? How can I get this ring doorbell 2 to work with the existing chime without buying a new one please?
Thanks Pete

Hi @pete298365. The Video Doorbell 2 is compatible with AC-powered door chimes operating between 8-24 volt AC transformers. Any voltage outside this range is not compatible with the Doorbell 2, and we cannot guarantee that the Doorbell will work with a transformer outside of this range. If it’s too low, the Doorbell will not receive enough power, and if it’s too high the Doorbell may receive too much power which can cause damage to it. As for the chime kit itself, you can find a list of compatible mechanical and digital chimes in our Help Center Article here. I hope this helps clear things up!
