My current bell is a mechanical bell and rings for as long as the button is pressed. If pressed for 1 sec or 10 secs, thats how long it will ring for.
If the RIng is connected to the existing bell, does the Ring button work the same way? Longer press rings existing bell for longer?

Holding the button on your Video Doorbell will not result in continuous chiming from your mechanical chime kit. Your standard doorbell button might have, as those buttons are mechanical in simply closing the circuit which will allow voltage to flow as long as it is pressed. Our Video Doorbell functions in a way that will send voltage as needed to play the standard tone for the intended duration that the mechanical chime kit is designed to play.
