Ring battery doorbell plus stuck updating

The doorbell started a firmware update after replacing the battery last week and now it no longer works.

Reset the device multiple times, the device connects to wifi, all health shows as good on the app, and the battery is fully charged. The app shows the device is detecting motion but it won’t ring.

The device will steadily blink a blue full circle a few times and then a couple of minutes later it will steadily blink a full white circle as if it’s updating.

The update never completes and this cycle continues.

Tested different wifi networks, changed the battery, reset the device, and walked through setup 5 times now, same behavior every time. Tested with two phones as well.

Contacted support and wasted an hour with someone that refused to listen to any of my feedback and just walked me through the same steps over and over with no resolution.

This thing is a better doorstop than a doorbell at this point.
