Ring App - Modes Disappeared

The latest Ring App version has removed the Modes option. We use that feature all the time, will it be coming back or if not, why was it removed ?

I’m using the iOS version of the app and while I don’t use modes myself I still see the Enable Modes section in the Settings section in the main app menu.

Hi @andyb-uk. The Modes feature has not been removed. Make sure you’re on the correct location in the Ring app, which you can check by tapping the location name in the top center of the Ring app. That should bring up a drop-down menu of any locations you have, including Shared locations, so you can ensure you’re on the correct one that has your Ring devices.

I have the same issue that started in the last few weeks. The Modes icons have disappeared from the top of the Dashboard. I have found that if I tap the gear icon for a camera and then go back to the Dashboard, the Modes icons re-appear.

Hi @mrb. If possible, can you share a short screen recording of this happening? I’d like to be able to show that example to my team so they can take a look.

I’m having the same issue. Very frustrating as I cannot put my cameras in disarm mode when doing yard work. I can click on the gear and made the modes dashboard reappear on the Home Screen and my app acts like it’s disabling the cameras but it’s not. Been going on for about 2+ weeks now.

Hi neighbors. What type of phone are you using and what OS version is installed on it? Additionally, what version of the Ring app do you have installed? Thanks, neighbors!

I’m glad it’s not just me then, this has been driving me round the bend for a week. There are cases where you can go around the menu system and then come back to Dashboard and Modes will re-appear, but not reliably. Needless to say this renders the whole idea of being able to arm and disarm your home on demand removed from the service. I’ve had to resort to tapping in and out of each camera to enable/disable motion.

yah, this is getting annoying. basically whenever the app is restarted or goes to sleep & opened again later, modes disappears from the ring app until i go into settings and then it re-appears and when i go into it, it’s asking if i want to enable it and customize settings or use default settings. I already set it up!!

I am having the same issue and it is super annoying. I have to go to “live view” and then go back, for them to reappear??? Hoping there is a resolution!!

This sounds similar to an issue that occurred for us a while back where the modes and dashboard would not update or show up. As far as we could tell back then, everytime the phone changed connection sources (e.g., wifi to 4g, different wifi, etc.), this seemed to mess up the modes and dashboard. Closing the app and opening it back up was a temporary fix. Ring had to do something to fix the app–not sure what.

It had been reocurring for me recently (Samsung phone). I cleared the cache for the app, and so far, it seems to have stopped happening for now.

Same issue: Ring iOS app is supposed to show a mini-toggle panel in the top part of the screen, with 3 buttons: Disarmed, Home, and Away, each setting up Mode for all the cameras in my home. The bug is that the toggle panel does not show up (at times?) when I open the Ring app. In order for it to show up, I need to manually enter Settings (gear) of any camera and maybe enter/exit that camera’s Modes (others say just entering Settings may suffice). This is a massive PITA.

In case it helps anyone, I have the exact same issue too, and it started a few months ago! Just like everyone else, I have to tap the gear icon on any camera, come out of there, and the modes icons appear again. VERY ANNOYING.

I tried chatting with Ring support online. Hopeless. Told to phone instead .

Hi Neighbors. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I’ve notified the appropriate team and they are actively looking into this concern. I understand how crucial it is to have your Modes displayed on the Ring app Dashboard. As soon as we have more information about this, we’ll be sure that share it here. For the time being, I’ll be marking this comment as a solution, so other neighbors who find this thread will know we are working on it. If you have any other questions in the mean time, don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you for your patience, neighbors.
