Ring Alarm (2nd Generation) UK plug high pitch sound

Hello,

I set up (on release day) the 2nd gen alarm system. It’s the new plugs that you slide off you and pick your regio (EU, us, UK etc).

On the base station, there is quite a loud high pitch sound when plugged in. I have turned it off so it uses the battery for a bit. I don’t want to send it back as the rest is all now set up and I guess with it being a brand new product, not a lot of people will experience the same!

It seems to come from the actual plug and not the base station. Can anyone tell me the actual plug type it is so I can plug buy a fitted plug instead, the cheaper slide ones don’t fill me with confidence.

Thanks.

DB

Hi, I too have bought the 2nd gen in the UK and can hear the high pitch frequency. Let me know if you get any response from support.

Snap, same here. Quite disappointing if this is just a by-product of having the UK adapter in place its very noticeable in a quiet kitchen.

be interested to see if there is a solution

Hi neighbors. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As mentioned by Marley, this is best handled by our support team. They will be able to diagnose what is happening and take the appropriate action moving forward.

I have just set my 5 piece alarm system purchased from Amazon in the prime day sale.

However I am getting this exact same problem with the hissing sound from the base station plug.

What is the resolution for this? I’d be very frustrated having to return when I have drilled holes in my wall to dock the keypad.

I am in the same position - contacted Ring over chat but pushing me to call which I don’t have time for. Just want a replacement plug sent to be honest!

I have the same problem with hissing noise coming from the power adapter although I use the EU plug. Ring Alarm Kit bought a couple of days ago.

Edit: after a couple of weeks the noise went away.

Has anyone called support yet and can you confirm what the resolution was?

Hey there,
I’ve got the exact same issue with EU plug. Hissing noise coming from the base station power adapter. Truly annoying to be frank, not to mention the fire hazard that freaks me out. Not great with a young baby at home…
I already replaced a first kit having this issue and yet, it’s still there…
I’m about to call the hotline and let you know.
Cheers

Let us know how you get on! Presumably a replacement plug, but who knows!

So,
Got an operator on the phone who asked few questions to make sure the adapter is faulty.
After few minutes, I managed to get a replacement adapter sent via UPS. Will see how it goes this time. I hope it’s not a production batch issue otherwise I’m good to call again, or simply return the whole thing back and buy a system from another company…

Hi there,
I’ve received the replacement adapter today.
As expected, it’s working fine now. The previous one was indeed faulty. For info I also bought the kit during the Prime Days on Amazon.
Here’s a picture of new (left) vs old (right) power adapter.
