Had my car rifled through last night May 28th, checked Ring and the last activity was May 22nd, with motion constantly. Checked device health…all good. Live view showed just a black screen, even a ring didn’t register. Reset doorbell, now all seems normal. This is the second time this has happened. Ring seems to catch every car driving by, animals on the lawn…but miraculously detects no motion on the last 2 times our car’s were broken into. Any explanation to a drop-off in activity?
Sorry to hear about this happening to you, @MikeAquino. We definitely want to ensure your device is optimized for when it’s needed most. The best first step here is to check power and wifi resources. Video connection concerns are often related to wifi, mobile device, or Ring app communication variables. Check out our Community post about RSSI for tips on optimizing this signal strength.
Removing and reinstalling the Ring app is a quick way to ensure it is up to date and optimally integrated with your mobile device. On your mobile device, try testing video on wifi only, and then on data only, to see if either connection is more efficient. Please also ensure bluetooth and VPN is disabled.
In regards to motion, I recommend going through all available motion settings in the Ring app and testing various configurations to find a optimal detection for this exact area. More detection is always better than too little. Nevertheless, your device should be operating as intended it sounds, and if you continue to have to reset the device, it might be best to reach out to our support team if the above does not help.
