Please help! Recommended mounting location

Hey all, I was curious as to which Ring doorbell would be best. I have a Ring Peephole and just purchased a Ring Video 3-Plus. I live the Peephole, but I often leave my door open to let light in which results in the Peephole doorbell recording each time someone walks past the door inside and then I’m stuck with no doorbell accessible outside of my door if someone stops by. I was thinking of instead mounting a Ring Video 3-Plus on the exterior side wall of the door which would allow all traffic to be picked up coming up the stairs near my door. What do you guys think? I have attached a photo of my current Peephole view and a photo of where I’ll be mounting my Video 3-Plus. Opinions?
