Ring Alarm
Phone notifications when door sensors remain open?
Is there a way to generate notifications when a door sensor: - Remains open \> X minutes - Is still open at a set time (e.g. 9pm). - Is still open when I drive away. In particular I have a detached and attached garage door that I've left open previously and would love to have an active notification system to remind me. And we have indoor cats so I'd use the same for all the other external house doors since they should never be left open more than briefly.

This is seriously still needed! I want to be notified when my garage freezer and fridge doors are open too long or get left open by my kids.

For posterity, I would encourage folks who have not, to vote for open sensor notifications here: https://community.ring.com/t/open-sensor-notification/10416

This question should not be considered solved. I left the door in my garage open to cool the garage down but forgot about it. What’s the point of arming my ring alarm if the door is kept open and it doesn’t tell me it has been open all night for anyone to just walk in?

THi @Osmotisis. If you have a Contact Sensor on the door, you should be required to bypass it in order to arm your Ring Alarm. You can learn about bypassing sensors in this Help Center article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001173583-Bypassing-Devices).

I have just started setting up my Ring Security System to replace our older system. I have now stopped the setup, as one of the main features I need of the system is to tell me if a door has been left open (e.g., backdoor open for >2 minutes = phone text). This is important not only for mandoors but for alerts when a garage door is left open, which happens to the best of us. I have voted on this feature, I am just shocked that Ring missed this simple yet very important feature.

This is good to know. And disappointedly is a deal breaker for me. As such, I’ve decided to go with alarm.com. Their security and home automation is unmatched. But you certainly pay for it.
