No more audio for videos in Neighbors app (iOS)?

I don’t know if this is a bug or a change to the app, but since last week’s app update, videos that people post in the Neighbors app no longer have any audio. The mute option is gone from each video and there is no sound at all when watching a video. I can sort of understand why this may have been removed intentionally since audio sometimes kept playing when you went back to the list of posts, but sometimes the best part of Neighbors posts is seeing/hearing a would-be porch pirate get caught in the act!

Has anybody else noticed this (or can verify that they have the same issue)?

It is very frustrating, and thought for the longest that it was just my app. Deleted then reloaded it, still no audio. Then decided to do internet search and found this thread. Glad to know it’s not just me!!!
Wish they’d update the update soon!!!

Hey neighbors. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I’ve looked into this and shared this information with the team that handles the Neighbors app. When more information becomes available, I’ll be sure to share it here. As for now, I’m going to mark this post as a solution so that other neighbors experiencing this concern will know that we are looking into it. Thanks, neighbors!

10 days and no update?
iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 15.1.1 same Problem here. Videos have no sound since the latest app update. Please fix!!

Any news/update? It‘s been a while now…

Need new update to app to fix the audio/visual that is missing the volume control. Doesn’t show the volume control to enable the user to “listen” to the video!!!

Please audio is much needed for most of the posts!!!

Thank you!!

The app still has no audio.

Pretty disappointing that it’s taking so long to fix the audio playback issue that was reported in this thread a month ago now. As a new user I’m weary of buying more Ring products if the dev team can’t keep the app updated with critical bug fixes. :frowning:

Any updates? Thanks.

Thank you for the continued feedback on this, neighbors! After further testing I was able to successfully obtain audio for videos in Neighbors community posts. Here’s how:

From the main Ring app, open the Main Menu (3 lines top left) and select “Neighbors”. When viewing a video in your Neighbors feed, there will be a speaker/ audio icon at the bottom left of the video playback screen, which can be toggled on or off.

If you are using the Neighbors by Ring app this audio toggle is located in the same place as described above, however, it may not display for some neighbors. While the icon might not display, tapping this area as if the icon were there should still enable audio. It may take a couple taps!

In the meantime, our team is aware and working to improve this experience for all neighbors!

I use the Neighbors app on my phone and your suggestions still do not work. I have no audio icon on the videos posted. And multiple tappings on the screen in the corner as suggested does absolutely nothing to turn on sound.
The latest update has only darkened the screen to take away all the white platform of the app. This will take some getting used to, and definitely reduces my faith in the Ring product!!

Nope. I tried all of these suggestions and got nowhere. I have sound on my iPhone but not on my iPad. Plus, now my username and password are messed up.

This is ridiculous. There is no audio and no volume control on the neighbors app any longer. And to add insult to injury, you cannot view a video in full screen mode when you rotate the iphone. The development team at Ring/Amazon obviously can’t be bothered to test their work.

It is NOT a solution. It is an unnecessary workaround that works for only some users. It’s stunning that a company the size of Amazon would regularly release untested code that doesn’t work properly and leaves its users SOL.

This is NOT a solution and you shouldn’t mark it as such.
