New ring cam pro battery lifet
I recently purchased a new wireless ring camera, Pro, which required me to purchase a new solar panel. The camera says it’s connected to the new solar panel, but the batteries drain very very quickly. They do recharge, but slowly. Sometimes it looks like they might drain in just one day. This can’t be expected, right?

Hi, and thanks for the reply. As this is a new camera, the pro, replacing an existing camera, I did have to set it up again regarding recordings, sensitivity, etc. and there are new features, such as Birdseye view, etc. However, it and the new solar panel are in exactly the same place as the previous camera and solar panel, so the placement of the solar panel shouldn’t be an issue. The new camera drains the batteries much much more quickly than the old camera and solar panel. I will work on tweaking the settings.

Hi @dyerme. Check how many events your Camera is recording each day. This includes motion events, Live Views, and Linked Devices events. The Solar Panel provides a trickle charge to the battery, which can help extend the amount of time between manual charges. If your Camera is recording a large number of events, the battery may drain more quickly than it can be charged via the Solar Panel. Your Solar Panel also needs 4 hours of direct sunlight per day in order to provide that trickle charge. We have more information and troubleshooting tips for the Solar Panel [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/10264201238292-Troubleshooting-Solar-Panel-2nd-Generation-and-Small-Solar-Panel-). One last thing to check is that your Camera has a [strong signal](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217271526-Checking-Your-Ring-Device-s-Wifi-Signal-Strength) from your wifi network. A weak signal can cause the battery to drain slightly faster, particularly if the Camera is disconnecting and having to reconnect to wifi. If this issue with excessive battery drain persists after checking the above, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036196372-Contact-Us) for more in-depth troubleshooting assistance.
