New Ring 3. Shows hardwired, battery icon has lightning indicator but
hardwired-video-doorbell
The battery percentage just keeps dropping. I have motion zones and everything else set up for efficiency. Last night I had zero events and the battery dropped 2%. Tested doorbell wires and they are at 18.3VAC. Do I need to return this thing? Only bought it because I could hardwire it to keep the battery charged.

Hi there, neighbor! Great call on fine tuning motion settings to preserve battery usage. As mentioned in our [Community post about battery drain](https://community.ring.com/t/device-tips-battery-draining-quickly/305), cold temperature can factor into battery draining. This is true for most batteries, in which limiting events, live view length, and having optimal wifi signal will help with other common battery draining factors. I hope this helps! :)
