"New Features" notification will not go away

\*\*Please see my attached screenshot\*\* --Android app v.3.23.0 I received the Modes update today and the New Features red dot in the upper left will not go away after acknowledging the new features. This function isn't new to me, and in the past I've been able to clear it by acknowledging/viewing Snapshot, SOS, confirmation call... anything new that might appear. After getting the Modes update it will not clear. I've tried clearing my app cache, app data, logging out of the app and back in, and finally a reinstall. No matter what that red dot remains, and "New Features" is bolded red. I've clicked through on every new feature, but the notification that Modes is now available will not go away. Everything shows "Feature Enabled" or "Viewed" when clicked on, but Modes still shows in red as New even though it's now enabled. MINOR issue, yes, that at BEST is only an annoyance. I wanted to both report and, and ask if anyone else has experienced this and if so, had any luck clearing it?

I think the strategy here is notification of said new features will NOT cease and disist until you fully enable them, even though you have no interest in them whatsoever. :/ They will not STOP on my devices either.

Hey neighbors! Wanted to provide another update that I just got from my team. It looks like this concern will be addressed in a May update of the Ring app. I will let you know when this goes live, but should be fixed in our 3.26 update of the Ring app. Thank you again for your patience in this matter. :)

@5150Joel Fantastic news! I was just able to come in here and ask everyone in this thread myself. Neighbors, thank you again for your patience in the matter, and I'm happy to state it is now resolved. Let me know if you have any further questions! Stay safe and healthy. :)

This problem is still present in v.3.26.0. App always reports (1) New Features but all "new" features have been viewed. This was a new installation without any prior version of the app installed.

The issue remains after unstalling and installing on my Android phone yesterday. It still shows 1 New Features but it shows "You're all caught up" in details. The Ring app version is 3.27.0.

The issue is not solved for me. Ring app version is 3.27.1 on Android 10. "1 New Features" on menu and "You're all caugut up" in details. Why can't Ring fix this simple issue after more than two months. Ring's programmers don't know how to fix it? Let me show you how simple it is. If "You're all caugut up" then clear New Features count.

Hey neighbors! Wanted to provide another update on this concern. While this was previously resolved, it looks like our teams are looking into this matter further, as they were also able to duplicate this error on their end. Rest assured I re-reported this matter to them today so they are working on resolving this for the future as we speak! I will update you with more information on when we may have an ETA for this fix/when it is fixed. Thank you for your patience in the meantime, neighbors. :)

Hey again, neighbors, it's me! Just got an update from the team, and if you are still experiencing this, please try the following (Please note: it will sign you out of the Ring app and signing back in will be required): - Go to the your phone’s settings - Navigate to the Apps section - Select the Ring app - Clear Data (might be in Storage section and should be Android specific, you may not see this on iOS) - Launch the Ring app - Sign in - Go to the New Features - Visit all the feature listed **including the ones at the bottom (collapsed) **saying _Feature Enabled._ Re-visit the feature if possible, despite if it's enabled or not. These steps will reset the Ring app’s storage and should remove the red indicator from the Menu button and New Features menu item. Please let me know if this fixes it for you, and if not, please let me know what part of the steps get stuck/if you got to the end and the indicator is still there. :)

@Chelsea\_Ring That worked for me, but it took a couple tries and some extra steps on my Samsung phone as well as the Samsung tablet. Thanks!

@meme Thank you so much for confirming! Do you mind detailing those extra steps you took, as it may help other neighbors with Samsung devices in the meantime?

Thanks, that's worked for me too. Make sure to view those features that are collapsed at the bottom as suggested! Thanks

The Ring app is getting worse and worse. It's more and more unstable. The dashboard still will not load properly. Neighborhood is flakey. System was down half the day on Wednesday... And now the Ring app FORCES you to click on obnoxious marketing for new Ring products and opens your Amazon app without your permission to serve up the new Ring products. I just saw that my Ring app was showing 12 new "features" and the only way to clear the stupid red dot for new "features" is to click on each and every single one of the 12 new products by forcing open the Amazon app to the new product. WTF?! There is no option to opt put of this OBNOXIOUS FORCED MARKETING!!! I had been somewhat contemplating buying new Ring products. But with each new "improvement" it's clear that Ring/Amazon really don't care about security. It's just a huge marketing tool to push out and sell more products that having been getting technically worse and worse.

Completely agree. AND ... where is the 'Ring Contact' email to complain? Under iMac OS the Ring app will not shutdown properly - ever. Have to 'Force Quit' each time. Worse than Verizon?? Maybe.

Back at the beginning of the year when there was the discovery that Ring was sharing our data without our permission with the likes of Facebook and Google, Ring finally released a statement that they were committed to building out ways for us to opt out. They said that that would occur this summer. Crickets.... Apparently instead what they've been spending their summer on is developing ways to make the app worse and more unstable. But apparently prioritizing new ways to exploit our information. Every time you look at something in Amazon, Amazon logs that and then uses that to serve up to you other products. So the new app "feature" serves our information on a silver platter to Amazon. Not that Amazon probably didn't already have access to it if they wanted it. But this is really blatant... Agreed that the Ring App has gotten really unstable. On Android as well, the dashboard will not load properly. You have to force shutdown, and open it up immediately. This delay is not only annoying but can be really stressful when you get a notification and you can't get to the history to see what's going on. If there is actually a crime being committed, that delay could have a big impact....

WTF. Now there's 22 notifications. This is crazy. Fix this sh\*t. We should not be forced to endure this nonsense due to some idiotic programmer's error. Do you need freelancers? Come on, Amazon has enough engineers that can fix this simple problem or eliminate it all together.

(I want to note that I tried posting about the new Ring ploy to force us to click on the countless new products that they created instead of providing us ways to protect our privacy and opting out of sharing/selling out information as Ring promised us at the beginning of the year. However, a moderator moved my post here, which is why some of my earlier posts in this thread seem out of place.... Anyway....) Yes, of course, the ONLY way to get rid of obnoxious red dot is to click on EVERY SINGLE Ring product that we are being forced to look at on Amazon by Ring/Amazon. And by the way, each time you have to re-install the Ring app because it is broken, the red dot counter will be re-set. And you will have to click on the 22+ items/Ring products all over again.... It's not a matter of "if," it's a matter of "when" you" have to re-install the Ring app because it is so buggy.... There was a time that I spent time a fair amount of time on this "community" to help others with issues and in hopes it would make the Ring products better for all of us. Too many empty, unfilled promises from Ring. Fool me once shame on you; fool me too many times, shame on me.... It’s become quite clear to me that Ring/Amazon management do not care in the least about our security or privacy. This "Community" and every aspect of their products are focused on monetizing and exploiting our personal information.... This is no better than the Facebook "business model" ....

I agree. Why doesn't RING give users of the app a choice to turn off all the ads? There's now 3 places that ads show up: on the device page after the list of devices you already purchased, on the Store option in the menu on the left side of the app, and a 3rd time in the "What's New" option, the one with the red dot that cannot be made to disappear. Corporate greed wins again; when a person buys a product, the company now grants itself the license to badger the buyer with incessant advertising for more products. Am I the only one who wants this to stop? RING touts its privacy policy in the app but it is clearly not the truth. The truth is that if you buy into their security system RING now acts like they own your eyes and attention. It's wrong, it's invasive and it's greedy. I wish they cared about what's right as much as they care about enriching themselves.
