I recently purchased a home with a ring attached. The house was a rental and tenants are long gone. Is there any way to register this ring onto my account without requiring assistance from the previous tenants? Or do I simply need to purchase a new doorbell?
I had the exact same circumstance. Have to purchase your own ring camera OR wait until the device on your house has not been"online" or “used” for 30 consecutive days, in which case you can call customer service and claim it as your own device.
Hi there, @Madg17! When receiving or trying to setup a Ring device that was previously owned by someone else, your initial setup attempt should send a request to release ownership. Please wait a few days for previous owners to remove the device from their account. If you are in contact with the previous owner, this can always speed things along. Check out our Change of Ownership process for more tips on changing this information.
Otherwise, @Targeting_Techy’s suggestion is the best next step. Please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here. We’re taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19, so this has resulted in longer than normal wait times.
