Motion Alerts Notifications stopped working iPhone/iPad

Motion Alerts worked Jan 4 when I went to bed, did not work when I woke up the next morning. I have an iPhone and iPad, Notifications not working on either device, so shutting down the device is not the answer. It isn’t a WiFi problem since everything else works and Ring video is recording, I’m just not getting Alerts.
This has obviously happened to many others in the past, but I don’t see a solution that works.


Same exact thing is happening to me on android. Approximately 3 days ago or so, notifications stopped on all our devices (phones and tablets). The camera still works fine and is recording movements, but no notifications. Everything has work well for the past year and a half.

Same thing for me … I have an android and my wife has an iPhone; and the RIng Doorbell is connected to our Alexa. We get ring notifications, but not motion notifications. The motion events are logged in the history of the device, so it isn’t a “motion settings” problem. We’ve done everything short of resetting to factory default…

I’m not sure when we got our last motion alerts, but it has been a few days … but it did work, probably around January 4th as well.

Any idea how to get 's attention on this? It’s probably a systemic issue , not a per-user issue.

Hi there, neighbors! Motion notifications should certainly be received if other alerts are coming in. Trying another mobile device was a great call. This will mostly rule out mobile device variables. The next best step is to check your Ring app settings. Motion scheduling, motion snooze, alerts toggles, app alerts tones, and even Modes are all features which impact motion alerts. Checking each in the Ring app, and ensuring you have alert tones selected with all alert toggles on should help.

Just got it fixed now.

I spent a very pleasant 57 minutes on the phone with first and second level support at . Second level support ended up pushing a software fix to my Ring Doorbell Pro. The gentleman from Second level support indicated that he’s seen the problem before, and has left details with his developers.

To me, it sounds like there may have been a bug in the doorbell firmware, and that he pushed a newer not-yet-released version to my device. But that’s just my interpretation of it I wish I could see the firmware version info, somewhere, but all I can see in Device Health is “Firmware - Up to Date”.

There was nothing that >I< could do in the app / website that would have fixed this.


Having the same problem. Ugh.

My floodlight cam notifications work fine it’s just my doorbell pro that stopped.

Guess I will need to call and sit on with support.

Since mine stopped working overnight, and I don’t have a history of sleepwalking, I’m positive none of those possibilities happened. There are many cases of the same issue happening in the past year or so. This is obviously a Ring problem, not on the User’s end.

Are all of the issues with Ring Pro?? Several responses indicate that, and that’s what I (original poster) have. I’m so frustrated - Motion Alerts is the primary reason I bought this thing.

I’ve tried all of the above. I called your support on Wednesday, was told the entire ring network went down and I will receive an email when the network is up and running. Still waiting for the email.
This is very frustrating.

I have been having the same issue as the rest of you, however, my wife is receiving motion and doorbell notifications on her phone. We do not have Ring Pro. I have tried all that is suggested by Marley but still having the issue.

I’m having the same issue with motion notifications. Still get the notifications when the doorbell is rung. Noticed a big delay when someone rings the doorbell and you check out the rich notifications you don’t even see no one in there

Same, issue as everyone else. Finally got a call back from support after 2 1/2 hours only to get disconnected after about 25 min of “troubleshooting”. Finally told the CSR about this thread and she put me on hold to look into it when the call dropped. Guess I’ll try to call again tomorrow.

Having same problems with no notifications for motion since “rich” notifications turned on. If there is fix you can download why has it not been done for all of us users. We pay for it to work. Make it work PLEASE!

Called back this morning, got straight to 2nd level support. Bottom line: still not fixed. He tried a remote reboot of my Doorbell Pro which didn’t work so ended up sending the ticket to development, said if not fixed in a couple of days to call back for an update.

I spoke with a Ring rep yesterday. After we checked to make sure all notifications were enabled, she had me delete the Ring app from my iPhone. I downloaded it again from the app store and signed in. Then I powered down my iPhone, turned it back on and the notifications started to show up again on my phone. I do believe it is a ring issue as my phone is only a month old. Hoping that Ring Support will see this and fix it. FYI- I had to do this again today because the notifications stopped working late last night so this was my second time doing this. Never had this issue in the past.

Having the same issue on my Pro. Android device. Nothing seems to work. Doorbell notification is coming through but no motion notifications. Motion is working as i can pull it up on the history. Strange one.

Update: my notifications just started working on my Doorbell pro this afternoon about 3 PM, I had not done anything since last speaking with Ring support on Sunday morning.

If mine isn’t fixed within a few days I’m uninstalling mine and canceling our service! We have androids. So it’s not an ios problem. Sorry that’s how I feel. Seems too coincidental right now don’t you think?

Update: Just received a notification by email from Ring someone signed into my account on the 12th and checking to see if it was me! Only if I borrowed Marty McFly’s car!
