Just installed cams with solar panels
troubleshooting
battery-security-cameras

I just installed 2 cams with solar panels. I switched from blink to ring because I was tired of charging batteries once a month. Well now I wish I didn’t switch because this is ridiculous. I’ve already had to charge them everyday for last three days. One is above garage and not easy to get to, hince why I bought the solar panels. I have cleaned solar panels and aimed them towards sun. I gone through all the settings and everything is as low as they can be. Literally they died over night while not even recording any movement. Wth. The cams say charging during day from solar panels. I just turned off snapshot and one last resort. Can’t even use these stupid cameras like they’re supposed to be used. Should’ve never switched to this. At least the doorbell cam works great since I just wired it in directly.

Hi @user42657. Those were excellent troubleshooting steps to take for your concern. What model Cameras do you have? What version of Solar Panels did you add to your Cameras? This extra information will help me provide additional troubleshooting steps you can try.

@user42657. I appreciate that screenshot. Your battery draining that quickly is definitely not normal. Try these following steps to help: - Verify that your Camera is in [battery mode](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045463592-Changing-power-modes-on-your-Ring-Stick-Up-Cam-3rd-generation-) and not in wired mode. With a Solar Panel plugged into the Camera it still needs to remain in battery mode. - [Reboot your Camera using the Ring app](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/7438395032980-Rebooting-your-Ring-Doorbell-or-Security-Camera-). - Factory reset your Camera by pressing and holding the setup button for 20–25 seconds, and then [reconnect it to your wifi](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034825092-How-to-Reconnect-Your-Video-Doorbell-or-Security-Camera-to-Wifi-or-Change-Your-Wifi-Network). If you have tried these steps and are still having the same concern, give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406) for further assistance. If you are outside of the US, please visit [here ](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/213608406)to see how to contact support.

@Justin_Ring Oh man thanks. I’ll try that when I get home. I have them in wired mode because they’re thought since they were plugged in it was wired. I’ll have to charge them first since they’ve been dead since last time I sent message.
