iOS Notifications - do badges work?
notifications
app-request

HI all, I have notifications working fine on my iPhone - when motion is detected, I get a notification on my screen. I was wondering though, I have never seen any badge numbers on the app - if I have not actually tapped the notification or opened the app to check out the motion notificaiton alert, I would expect to see a red '1' badge over the app. Are badges used like this, or is there jo badge support inthe app? thanks!

This is ridiculous! It’s almost 2022 and this has t been figured out. I just spent almost an hour trying to get it to work only to stumble upon this thread saying Ring hasn’t figured it out yet. Seems like a no brainer for all the money we spend in your technology.

This is actually a bug / defect in the way that the Ring app interacts with the iOS operating system. Suppose one would like to either hear the ring chime only, see app badges only, or both. Without selecting one of these notification types “Lock Screen”, “Notification Center” or “Banners”. This functionality isn’t possible, because the app isn’t fully implemented into the OS. This is a huge disappointment for me. Any security oriented application should programmed properly for each operating system in which it will run on. It should be fully functional in terms of badges and sounds being able to work 100% independent of “Lock Screen”, “Notification Center” and “Banners”. Not coupled to them. This is poor development practice. Badges, should at the very least, display the total number of missed history events. Sounds should be capable of playing any time any notification alert would have been triggered. Both badges and sounds should be completely independent of “Lock Screen”, “Notification Center” and “Banners”. Come on ring. The other reputable app companies don’t have issues with this. This is a long standing critical bug, and it should be marked high priority and fixed within a month, if not sooner. Please get busy on it.
