Interior doors

How well does this work on interior doors? We have toddlers and would like to know if they open their bedroom door or the door to the basement. When armed do the door sensors always set off the siren or can you set it to just get notifications on your phone?

Hello @Bill_B ,

The Ring Alarm system Contact Sensors and Motion Sensors settings can be tailored and adjusted in multiple ways. Sensors are always “ON” regardless of which of the 3 Alarm Modes (“Disarmed”, “Home”, and “Away”). Sensors can never activate the siren in Disarmed Mode. You can also pick which sensors to be used in the Armed Modes of “Home” and/or “Away” too.

The settings can also be adjusted to send a text-type Notification to your smart-phone in all Alarm Modes (even in Disarmed Mode) to let you know which sensor it is.

The settings can also be adjusted so that your Alarm Base Station and Keypads will make an audible “Chirp Tone” sound, with several sound choice selections, allowing you to distinguishably hear which sensor it is.

So you can tailor the settings to text-Notify your phone and/or make the Base Station and Keypad sound a “Chirp Tone”, while still able to decide and set whether you do/do not want any individual sensors to be used in either “Home” and/or “Away” Armed Modes (and even set differently in “Home” or “Away” armed modes also).

So yes, this could be very cool and helpful method to know when toddlers are opening a door.
