Indoor camera lost night vision


One of the Ring Indoor Cam I’ve been using for more than an year suddenly started showing blacked out image when there’s little to no light source in the darkness. It used to be able to capture a night time vision until a week ago. I’m not aware of adding any config changes.

Things I’ve done but didn’t work

  • Disable (and re-enable) IR option in the device’ config setting.
  • Reboot the device.
  • Factory reset and connect the device to my Ring home.
  • Wifi connection RSSI remains around 40, so I didn’t try location change.
  • May be irrelevant, but I tested to see if the camera still recognizes IR light.

Is there anything still left for me to try, other than contacting customer support (it’s not super clear but I guess I still have a valid warranty)?

Hi @r130s. Thanks for sharing these images. Your Indoor Cam should switch between nightvision and normal operation when the lighting is correct. It seems as if you’ve gone through all the troubleshooting steps that I would recommend, so it may be best for our support team to address this concern. After long troubleshooting session with tech support over the phone, they agreed to send a replacement (under a valid warranty).
