Having trouble with live view during Ring event (firewall/port mapping/NAT)

I’m having trouble responding to Ring events with live view. It doesn’t seem to work; but Live View works otherwise.

I do not use uPNP or NAT-PMP on my firewall.

I’ve looked at https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/205385394-The-Protocols-and-Ports-Used-by-Ring-Devices, but I can’t believe that forwarding inbound UDP 16500-65000 is the solution.

Please help!

Hi @bofh when did you install your device? Have you ever been able to check and connect to Live View?

Live view works all the time, but just not when there is a ring event. When I go to answer a ring, then it doesn’t work.

This has always been a spotty feature.

I’m looking for a clear list of firewall rules needed to support Ring. The document I linked in my OP doesn’t really specify directionality. Does the Ring device need *any* inbound ports open?

I have the same issue with the device - live view always works, but not when you need it most, when someone actually rings the bell.

Does anyone know what inbound AND outbound ports should be open for the device? Can someone from support coherently answer this question? OR add the traffic direction to the support article (https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/205385394-The-Protocols-and-Ports-Used-by-Ring-Devices).

Hi @Vezard. For this question, would you mind reaching out to our support team directly?
