Hardwired battery doorbell not charging

Having the same issue with Ring doorbell3. Been fine for an entire year. All of sudden the battery fully dies and says the power source is “battery”. Recharged the battery and it’s still showing as “battery”. Transformer and power at the wires is good. Support is zero help, tells me this is normal behavior (not even understanding the issue). Junk.

For the entire year prior the trickle charging from being hardwired has basically never dropped below 80% battery level.

Looks like there’s no fix or support for this. Into the garbage it goes.

Hi @user35900. Hardwiring a battery powered Video Doorbell will provide it with a trickle charge to help keep the battery charged longer before needing to manually charge it. The effectiveness of the trickle charge and how quickly your battery drains will depend on various factors, such as the number of events your Doorbell records and the weather.

You can find some troubleshooting steps on unexpected battery drain here. I’d also recommend verifying that the wiring to the Doorbell isn’t worn or frayed, and that it’s secure on the back of the Doorbell. If you’ve checked everything and your Doorbell is not receiving a trickle charge, the next step would be to follow up with our support team at one of the numbers available here.
