Hardwired, Battery Dead notice But Works Normally

My newish (~ 1 year old) hardwired video doorbell has been operating properly, but today I received an email from Ring telling me the battery was low and needed to be recharged. The app shows a dead battery.

Meanwhile, the device continues to operate just fine.

What gives?

(an unrelated side issue: why must I include a tag if the box for tag selection says “optional?”

Two days later, battery shows fully charged.
