Grothe GT 50811 Bypassing transformer to installed wired ring doorbell

Hi There

I have the Ring wired doorbell to install i have been wondering where would the jumper cable provided in the box with ring doorbell go? and have watched too many videos & pictorial wiring diagrams which are all generic and never clear cut.

Please if someone can help will be very thankful.

Hi @Rajanaveedzafar. What country are you located in? The wiring process can be different depending on where you’re located, as the chime kits can vary. For the typical US installation, you can find a basic wiring diagram here, which demonstrates that the jumper cable is installed on the terminals leading to the transformer and the front door. In this case, you need to determine which terminal leads to the transformer and the doorbell wiring at the front door. The terminals should be labeled in some manner.

If you’re located outside of the US, you can try consulting the UK version of our Doorbell Wired Installation article here, which may have information that is more relevant to the type of chime kit you have. However, you might need to consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure how to properly install the jumper cable based on how your chime is wired.
