I have setup the geofence feature. Both me and my wife use the ring app on our phones. How can we set up geofence to trigger a reminder ONLY if both the users are outside the perimeter?
Hi @penicillinman. At this time, it’s not possible to set the Geofence feature up to trigger a reminder only if both users are outside the perimeter. Other neighbors have requested this feature, and you can vote on the request here. This will help us to organize and share your requests with our teams here, as well as allow other neighbors to comment and add interest, all in one place.
I had the same question. I do not see this being a useful feature if every time I leave the house it wants to arm even though a shared user is still in the home.
So, let me get this straight: Ring released a feature like this that DOESN’T already have a built-in way to address shared users residing in the same address AND doesn’t give the users an option to make exceptions to the rule? Ha ha! Great job, Everyone.
I’m sorry to be so scarcastic, but such a mistake makes a very useful feature not useable for, what I assume, is a very large percentage of Ring subscribers.
If the goal is to, instead, beta test this feature with those without shared users on their accounts, that’s fine. That’s not the way it is being advertised, however.
Can’t make those kinds of errors in judgement these days. Ring is still the best option for the vast majority of users, I suspect, but these decisions don’t inspire confidence in the software development team.
It’s not hard to poll users these days in addition to the dedicated R&D team(s). Ring should be doing better.
Please add an option to enable this when multiple users are in the household
I just set this feature up on my phone and then saw this post. What a waste of time. If GeoFence does not look at multiple users, what good is it! I’ll be turning this off immediately.
Is this still true? Holy cow, what a completely useless feature. Stop releasing beta features until you hire a product manager to actually review them.
Is this still an issue? Have multiple people in my house and need to setup.
Couldn’t agree more, unless you are a bachelor/bachelorette, this is useless feature.
Any update on this? The app NEEDS to look at all shared users before alerting to arm/disarm alarm… Canary did this. SmartThings can do this. Therefore it can’t be hard. Please fix.
+1, we also can’t use geofencing until this issue is addressed. Disappointed.
It does seem counterproductive to have geofencing available to only a single person. Think toomstes, spouses, kids, etc. Let’s get this feature updated to be useful in the real world.
This is still an issue as of Feb 14 2022, can this be addressed as a priority, else it makes geofencing completely worthless except to single occupancy households
We just know not to arm it if someone is home. Am I missing something. We like it.
I agree. This is a basic request.
Indeed Solar. Here is the relevant feature request. Perhaps everyone who has posted on here could click on this link and vote. Many thanks.
Hi @damien.herron. Thank you for sharing that link to the associated feature request. I have edited the marked solution and added in a link to that feature request as well in order to make it easier for other members of the Community to locate the request and vote on it if they’d like to.
I love geofence and being able to auto snooze things when I get home. I think it’s pointless to only have 1 person be able to use the geofence feature. I live in a household of 6 people. My brothers and parents are equally as important and use the app. It’s pointless for be to be able to snooze when I get home automatically and they can’t. I looked all through their apps and the feature is missing cause only the “owner” has access to it. I just happened to set it up cause I’m the “tech savvy” one. Not cool.
Ring has been out for YEEEEEAAAAARS for them not to think these things through and listen to their customer. Things like this or getting notified 10 times because of one continuous motion make a great product be not so great.
