gen 1 sensor not connecting to base station

I have a gen 1 sensor that is not connecting to the base station that I am trying to remove. Nothing seems to help it connect and I cannot remove if it does not conect. I have tried removin gthe battery and a factory reset. No luck.

Or did you mean you are trying to remove the Gen1 sensor (Contact or Motion?) If you mean you intend to remove (Unregister) the Base Station, then normally the preferred method of removing a Base Station is to first "Remove this Device" one-by-one from the Base Station and then finally unregister the Base Station itself. But this is not required, and therefore you don't really have to connect the sensor to then remove it. There is not "Ownership" features on sensors, unlike the "Ownership" features that are on Ring Video devices, Doorbells, and Base Stations. But later to reuse the sensors, you will have to do a factory reset on each one of the sensors and later connect the sensors back one-by-one to another Base Station. I would recommend "Remove the Device" for the sensors that are Z-Wave connected to the Base Station, and then Unregister the Base Station without worrying about the one you cannot connect. More detailed information is available online at the Ring Support, and this link includes Factory-Resetting both Gen1 and Gen2 Contact & Motion sensor devices: [https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045772212-How-to-replace-your-Ring-Alarm-Base-Station](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045772212-How-to-replace-your-Ring-Alarm-Base-Station) If you still have other issues or want to contact Ring Support, you can telephone them: [https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036196372-Get-in-Touch](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036196372-Get-in-Touch) Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19, their available hours have been changed also: [https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041597471-Ring-s-Response-to-COVID-19](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041597471-Ring-s-Response-to-COVID-19) I hope you find this information useful :)

[@swyble](https://community.ring.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/64079) , I wanted to clarify my original post, because it concerned your **Generation1** sensor. For **Gen 2 sensors** , you should remove each 2nd Gen sensor one-by-one before unregistering the Base unit. If you are unable to remove a "stubborn/troublesome" 2nd Gen sensor off your Base Station this way, there are different recommended procedures: For Removing Sensors (Gen2) if the normal "Remove this Device" doesn't work: 1. Remove the back cover from the device. 2. Remove the battery from the device. 3. In the Ring app, tap **Menu** , then tap **Devices** , then tap **Alarm Base Station** , then tap **Base Station**. 4. Tap the **Gear icon** on the top right corner, then tap **Advanced Options** , then tap **Z-Wave** , then tap **Remove Z-Wave Device**. **_Note: DO NOT TAP “Reset Z-Wave Network”. This will remove your entire Ring Alarm network and you’ll need to reset every device. _** 5. Tap **Remove** and the app will say “Removing device, Listening for device to remove”. 6. Tap the pinhole reset button with a paperclip or the pinhole tool. The device should be removed successfully and you may now set up the device. 7. Factory Reset the sensor.
