Floodlight cam - 10 months in operation - motion detection working but no live view

So I have had my new Ring floodlight cam for about 10 months. Three nights ago, I got a good floodlight signal, but the next morning, only motion detection worked. What is interesting is that if there is a lot of “motion” going on (I had some guys stacking construction supplies in the garage), then live view worked. As soon as motion stopped, live view feature stopped.

Camera has not been moved. Internet speeds up/down are the same. I removed the Ring app on my phone and added back.

Camera is 6 hours away, so I can’t hit the reset button yet. Just trying to figure out what my options might be.

My other camera lasted 18 months before going all red screen on me. 10months seems pretty young for camera death

Hi there, @Elsie! Live View connection concerns or your Live View ending when trying to activate it is often related to the network or mobile device connection, and so these are the best variables to start with. Please check the following:

  • A good RSSI , or signal strength, in the Device Health section of your Ring app.
  • Battery is sufficiently charged if applicable.
  • Wifi speeds, interferences, and distance to router.
  • Test live video on cellular data only, and on wifi only, with your mobile device.
  • Disable any VPN on Data Saver on your mobile device to ensure they are not interrupting the Live View.
  • If you are using Android, please check out our Help Center article about conflicting apps to see if it applies.

Try also our Rapid Ring app , which is designed for this quickest access to Live View.
