Received device last night; charged battery overnight to full; initialized system and all seemed to go well. Left camera sitting upright, looking at ceiling so no motion as I was going to install later today; 20 minutes later received email saying battery was low. Does this imply a bad battery?

Were you able to re-charge the battery to ensure it got a proper charge (until only the green light is on, no amber light) and see if it does the same thing?
