Can anyone tell me how to factory reset a First Alert Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm? Instructions tell me to push the button at the top of the detector. I can’t find any button. I did the open battery compartment, remove and replace batteries, hold test button while pushing in tray, etc.
I can remove these devices from my system, but every time I try to add them back they join the wrong network.
I’m having the same issue. Did you ever fix this?
Hi neighbors. To reset the First Alert Smoke & CO Detector, hold down the test button for at least 10 seconds. This will reset all the Z-Wave settings and cause the device to be removed from the Z-Wave Network. If that doesn’t work, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here for more in-depth troubleshooting assistance.
Resetting will remove the device from the Z-Wave Network. Now, when I try to add it again, I see a message that says the device is connected to the wrong network.
The reset instructions shown above are not universal for all First Alert alarms. I called customer support and they asked me to pull the battery tray out, press & hold the reset button, then slide the battery tray back in while holding down the button until I heard the beep. After doing that, I could add the detector to my Ring system.
Also, note that the detector will appear a two devices – one for CO, and the other for smoke.
